LAS VEGAS – Following today’s vote on the final Republican tax package in the House, Battle Born Progress released the following statement:

Battle Born Progress Executive Director Annette Magnus said, “This so-called ‘tax reform’ is simply a reward for the wealthy and corporations paid for by cuts to health care and tax hikes on middle-class families. The Republicans’ $1.4 trillion dollar final tax package provides most of its benefits to high-income households and foreign investors while raising taxes on many low- and middle-income Americans. We are extremely disappointed in Congressman Mark Amodei, who voted in favor of this bill even though the legislation repeals part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and forces $25 billion automatic cuts to Medicare annually to give trillions in tax breaks to the richest households and multinational corporations like Apple, Pfizer, and Wells Fargo. We thank the rest of Nevada’s representatives for standing up for those that will suffer under this dangerous bill. Now it is up to Nevadans and Americans everywhere to hold their representatives accountable for their irresponsible votes on this bill. We will continue to watch what Senator Dean Heller’s vote will be on this tax scam bill today.”
