Battle Born Progress Commends Governor Sisolak for Decision to Close Nevada Schools

LAS VEGAS, NV – Today, Governor Steve Sisolak called for all Nevada K-12 schools to be closed until at least April 6th, in response to the novel coronavirus pandemic. Battle Born Progress thanks Governor Sisolak for putting our communities’ health and safety first by making this call.

Annette Magnus, Executive Director of Battle Born Progress, said:

“Governor Sisolak made the right call today. We thank and commend him for doing what is right for our educators, school staff, students, and communities-at-large. Our schools are living Petri dishes to the high concentration and movement of people, especially children. As the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise, it was only a matter of time before reports of a faculty member, student, parent, or educator tests positive. With this decision, we have taken steps to prevent that possibility. Now we need to ensure all higher education institutions follow suit. Thank you, Governor Sisolak for your leadership in containing this dangerous pandemic.”
