Senator Cortez Masto, Congresswoman Lee Discuss Build Back Better Agenda on Tele-Town Hall

NEVADA –  This afternoon, Battle Born Progress hosted a Telephone-Town Hall with Senator Catherine Cortez Masto and Congresswoman Susie Lee to answer questions and discuss the Build Back Better Agenda and the impact it will have on Nevada communities, local agencies, and small businesses. They spoke to the importance of taking care of Nevada’s working families, as well as combating climate change, two of the major points of focus for both the bipartisan infrastructure bill and the Build Back Better Act legislation.

Senator Catherine Cortez Masto said, “I want to thank Battle Born Progress for hosting this forum. Throughout the pandemic, we have worked hard to deliver the federal funding Nevada needs to recover and restore our economy. We will continue to make sure that these resources go to the communities that need them most. Hearing from Nevadans all across the state is critical to achieving that goal and helping us create a stronger Nevada for generations to come.”

“Battle Born Progress has been a leader and an ally as we work to build a better Nevada,” said Rep. Lee. “The passage of the bipartisan infrastructure bill is proof that our state wins when we bring common-sense solutions to the table. It is now critical that we pass the Build Back Better agenda to expand access to early childhood education, bring down the cost of prescription drugs, and make historic investments in climate change, among other investments in Nevada families.”

Annette Magnus, Executive Director of Battle Born Progress, said, “We celebrated a significant victory last week with the passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure bill, but there’s more work ahead. The next step for Congress is to pass the Build Back Better Act. Helping to end child poverty, combat climate change, expand access to high-quality, affordable health care for millions, including seniors, bring down the cost of prescription drugs, and create good-paying jobs should be a no-brainer, especially when it’s already paid for by taxing wealth like work for the richest Americans. In Nevada, billionaires saw their wealth jump by 20% at a time when thousands of Nevadans are struggling to afford rent or basic necessities. That’s simply unacceptable, and it’s time they pay their fair share so we can lift up Nevada’s working families. We’re thankful for Senator Cortez Masto and Congresswoman Lee’s support for the Build Back Better agenda and the impact it will have here in Nevada. Lowering prescription drug prices, protecting our planet, upgrading our infrastructure, and creating millions of good-paying jobs are all a big deal. We appreciate our delegation members, sans Congressman Amodei, who are working to get this done.”
