**VIDEO INCLUDED** Nevada Secretary of State Addresses Honorees at Battle Born Progress Annual Fundraiser

NEVADA – This evening, Battle Born Progress hosted its annual fundraising event, Celebrate Progress, at the Paiute Golf Resort and virtually. The event honored the work of several of Nevada’s community leaders, as well as activists, volunteers, journalists, and organizations. Each year this event allows our organization to fundraise and also honor important leaders in Nevada communities.

Nevada Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar delivered a keynote address to commemorate the event. In addition, speakers addressed the honorees and guests at the event. Each speaker highlighted the importance of moving Nevada forward and ensuring it is a place where everyone can succeed.

A full recording of the entire event can be found HERE. Secretary of State Aguilar’s remarks begin at 01:17:59.

Shelbie Swartz, Interim Executive Director of Battle Born Progress, said the following:
“Tonight, we are ecstatic about the success of our annual fundraiser supporting the crucial communications and community organizing work our team performs each day across our state. Again this year, we raised more than our organization has ever raised from Celebrate Progress events in years past, and that is a testament to the extraordinary capacity of our team, the relationships we have built in our community, and the support Nevadans have for our continued efforts in moving Nevada forward to build a state where everyone has an equitable opportunity to thrive. I’d like to thank every single person, business, and organization who made a gift this evening, and leading up to it. We truly could not do this work without you.

I’d also like to congratulate each of our honorees this year for their commitment to Nevada. Each of these individuals and organizations are heroes of our communities across the Silver State. All of them have worked to ensure Nevada is a place that protects rights, ensures a good quality of life, and provides the opportunity for everyone to succeed and thrive. Without these honorees, we could not do the amazing work that we do lifting up important issues across the state.

Finally, I’d like to thank Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar for joining us as our keynote speaker. Aguilar has been a consistent champion of voting rights and voting access. He spearheaded a measure protecting election workers from further harassment in light of the continued attacks they see each election cycle during the 83rd Nevada Legislative Session. Additionally, he supported a measure that protects the right to vote for incarcerated individuals in Nevada. These actions show that he is determined to make sure all eligible Nevadans can vote with ease.”

For 2023, Battle Born Progress recognized the following honorees:
