Governor Steve Sisolak joins Southern Nevada outdoor recreation community in celebrating 3rd annual Public Lands Day
LAS VEGAS, NV – On the final weekend of September, community organizations, outdoor recreation businesses, local elected officials, and advocates will hold the third annual Public Lands Day Celebration. The event will feature a diverse arrangement of food, activities, and guest speakers honoring the special place public lands and outdoor spaces occupy in the hearts and minds of Nevadans. Governor Steve Sisolak will present a proclamation commemorating the 3rd annual Public Lands Day during the celebration.
Beginning in 1994, Public Lands Day is a nationally celebrated event held on the fourth Saturday in September. In Nevada, Public Lands Day was established by the 2017 legislature to also be held on the fourth Saturday of September. Since then, the conservation and outdoor recreation communities have come together to host a celebration of Nevada’s natural landscapes.
