Supreme Court affirms that immigrants are “here to stay” in DACA decision

LAS VEGAS, NV – This morning, the Supreme Court of the United States blocked President Donald Trump’s termination of the  Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Annette Magnus, Executive Director of Battle Born Progress, said the following:

“It is with a big sigh of relief that the Supreme Court made the only human decision today and blocked President Trump’s vindictive, racist maneuver to cancel DACA for the estimated 700,000 who are protected by it. DACA recipients are our friends, our community members, and our budding scholars and professionals. They deserve to live and work without fear of deportation. They deserve a path to citizenship to realize their potential in accordance with the ‘American Dream’, just like the rest of us. We are a nation of immigrants; shutting the door on Dreamers would have been a betrayal of the values this country supposedly stands for. However, this fight isn’t over. We will work with our Congressional delegation to quickly make sure that a permanent solution that gives DACA recipients a path to citizenship is reached before Trump can find a work-around to destroy their lives as he had intended all along.”
